Who is Labour's candidate Angeliki Stogia for Gorton & Denton?

She is Stakeholder Engagement and Communications lead for Arup, focusing in finding funding and state support for private Energy and Rail contracts.

Do you really want to vote Labour's Margaret Thatcher in?

I've long wondered why Nadia remains part of a labour party that is so fundamentally at odds with her personal politics... and here it is, she buys the lie that only labour can stop the right.

Well, there went the last dregs of respect i still had for her, i guesd.

What's the outcome that terrifies Labour most in the Gorton by-election?

Reform winning?

Nope. It's the Greens they're most worried about.

They'd prefer Reform to win, rather than the Greens.

Unbelievable that Keir Starmer would rather throw away votes for years to come in the north of England than have Andy Burnham as an MP. Nothing annoys northerners more than southern politicians in London telling us what we should do.

The only certainty is that if the Labour leadership blocks Burnham and Labour loses the by-election, Starmer will be gone.

We are not here to be disappointed by Labour anymore. At the by-election in Gorton and Denton, we are here to replace them. This election is a two-way race now - Greens Vs Reform.

Starmer’s leadership is a big ‘inconvenience’ for the entire country.
BREAKING: “Voters don't like elections that come mid-term."

Local Government Secretary Steve Reed says Labour decided not to let Andy Burnham run for Gorton and Denton because it would be an 'inconvenience' to the people of Greater Manchester

Greens taking Manchester would be so damn good, especially after Labour’s latest tribal play. Pisses me off they’ve been ordered to ramp up attack lines on progressives whilst still fawning over Reform

Whatever your view on this, there’s no denying that by leaning on the NEC to block his bid to run, Starmer has made himself look weak and has made Andy Burnham a martyr.

Blocking Andy Burnham from standing is not putting the country before the party. It’s not even the best decision for the party. Starmer is ultimately prioritising his job. A job he is doing badly. Which will result in Britain falling to the far right.

Absolutely unforgivable.

Labour's ruling committee, which is stuffed full of allies of Keir Starmer and Morgan McSweeney, has just blocked Andy Burnham from standing to be an MP in Gorton and Denton.

The odds of Labour losing this previously safe seat to Reform now look much higher

Sorry but if the most unpopular Labour government in history intervenes to block our only senior Labour politician with a net positive public approval rating - in doing so risking handing victory to a far right party - that’s putting petty factionalism before the country. 2/3

If Starmer blocks Burnham, he's as good as toast. It will only look like a move motivated pettiness and entitlement. If his advisors a really telling him this, his advisors are stupid lol

Assuming they prevent Burnham from standing, would that be the point where remaining Labour members and voters dissatisfied with the party’s direction finally lose hope, gather what’s left of their self-respect and go elsewhere? If not, when would that point ever come?
