I’m watching friends succumb to doom watching what’s happening in Minnesota and I want to shake them and scream “Can’t you see the people organizing? Can’t you see them winning?”. Doom is a warm blanket of helplessness that keeps you from the fight.
doom is cope, everybody's saying it
Please don’t approvingly share absolute horseshit like this written by someone who is deeply miserable and wants you to be miserable too.

Do we think the F.B.I. was searching for the personal liberties or the free markets?
More norm busting, or really dynamiting. Any search of reporter’s phone has been exceedingly rare, requiring special signoffs within DOJ. But search of reporter’s home basically unheard of. And this looks to be petty and political, not eg national security.

yes! a good number of MAHA-approved products are just repurposed waste from beef production
i'm not saying this as anyone who knows anything about health; i'm saying it as someone who is an alleged expert in interest group politics: the American beef industry is all over MAHA, wellness, and podcast spaces.

remember "bacon mania?" totally a marketing strategy by the pork industry.
New federal dietary guidelines give federal approval to beef tallow, a fat that both cardiologists and the U.S. government told Americans to avoid for nearly half a century.

I need to place a Polymarket bet on when JD Vance gets excommunicated.
Editorial in the National Catholic Reporter: "The vice president's comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith. His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel."
Catholic Vice President Vance takes to social media to justify killing of Renee Good
After the tragic shooting of Renee Good at the hands of ICE, the Catholic vice president of the United States took to social media to justify the killing.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

In addition to everything else, the comments here should remind us that rather than getting into debates about biology, anyone who says this is about the government making high school sports fair is a moron, a nazi, or both.
A year and a half ago or so, I read that an entire stadium in Tacoma had booed a trans runner. I wanted to know more. She was 16, and she had stood on a podium in one of the country’s most liberal states and listened to 10,000 people boo her. What I learned surprised me:

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

Nothing screams politically valuable and coherent message" like using the "actually slaves built the White House so there" in an argument about the East Wing which was built in 1902.
The White House was literally built by slaves so all the clever comments aren't so clever. Nothing in the article is admiring fascist art or architecture. It recognizes having a coherent aesthetic message as valuable politically. What is the political response to Alligator Alcatraz and gold leaf?

People really need to stop framing it is a question of getting more evidence. I mean, sure, that too. But we know. We all know. The president of the United States raped children. Say that. When they get mad at you for saying it, say it again and treat them like an idiot for pretending they doubt it.

Americans want to watch charismatic people solve moderately difficult problems on a weekly basis. That’s it. And a group of fomo execs and techbros who don’t watch TV drove one of the most profitable industries in the US off a cliff rather than accept that.
Look what happenes when a TV show releases every year, with more than 8 episodes a season.
