An important thing to understand is that these people LOVE IT when people get shot. They truly couldn’t care less about those harmed, and it’s an excuse both to blame democrats and to do horrific things that they wanted to do anyway but might have run into some public resistance trying to justify.

Trump’s version of the American dream is literally “go to a casino and hope to get really lucky”
Also NB: you’re not getting a $2,000 “dividend”

How can Kate Willett possibly be such an idiot. Like it almost seems like it has to be trolling/a bit but I think she’s sincere, which is even worse.

According to today’s WSJ, over half of GDP growth is represented by dumping money into the Mauna Kea volcano. Stopping this may anger the volcano gods, so we must press on.
One explanation for economic populism in the US is the recurring cycle of bubbles and bailouts that happens without any democratic input

Not sure if Kelly was thinking of running for prez in 28 or not, but this would be a good way for republicans to make him an instant contender.

This is correct, and the popularity hit that Biden took over Afghanistan makes it far less likely that the next dem who inherits a morass of a war will be willing to end it.
Americans do not under any circumstances want to enter a war, nor do they under any circumstances want to exit a war.
Trump had found an issue more unpopular than his handling of inflation - attacking Venezuela:

“Instead of telling people we don’t know how they feel, we’ll SHOW them we don’t know how they feel, and also lie.”
WELKER: Inflation has gone up. It's at 3% now up from 2% in April when the tariffs were imposed--

BESSENT: No, no no no. So, inflation hasn't gone up. The one thing we're not gonna do is do what the Biden administration did and tell the American people they don't know how they feel

You might as well say we don’t *really* know that the moon landing wasn’t staged, that 9/11 wasn’t an inside job, or that aliens didn’t build the pyramids. Don’t encourage people to believe stupid conspiracies.
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

So Rubio was, apparently, unable to relay this message to trump before trump had already threatened Ukraine with severe consequences if they didn’t accept it. Cool.
Republican Senator Mike Rounds said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a call to senators, confirmed the so-called 28-point “peace plan” was actually a Russian wishlist and is “not the administration’s position”. Nor is there any threat to cut off weapons or intelligence to Ukraine.

“We agreed to try to intentionally make things worse for ordinary people. In the republicans’ case this was an end in itself, and in mine it was bc I wanted to make normie democrats sad. But the outcomes were what was important.”

Yes, this. I don’t think Mamdani is doing anything inappropriate; he’s doing politics, and Trump is threatening to cutoff funding for NYC! So if you’d scream at Whitmer for showing up in the WH to try to advocate for MI but fine w this then you’re being a hypocrite.
I think Mamdani is doing what he has to for his voters by charming the pants off Donald Trump, and I'm glad he's got the natural charisma to do it, but I do want to point out that people would absolutely savage Whitmer or Shapiro for doing the same
