Danielle Smith is speedrunning fascism. God, she's disgusting.

Yes, but it can't *do* jobs, so most of those who are fired will be hired back at half the pay--because they have "ai" help--and/or as contract workers with no rights.

He yearns to live in a world where he can treat everybody the way he treats his wives.

The capitalist drive towards monopoly is incompatible with democracy. You either declaw capitalism *at least, or you don't have a free society. It's one or the other.

I think TV and film have given us a distorted view of teenagers bc they're almost always played by adults. That's not the origin of the problem, ofc, but it doesn't help. If you say "15," a lot of people picture someone who's anywhere from 20 to 35.

But those photos are of *children*.

And grown folks should not be interested! A teenager is not "fully baked." Not physically. Not emotionally. Not intellectually. A youth is allowed to have sexual thoughts and feelings. Normal adults should be turned-off by the expression of them. But our culture does not normalize this.

Proximity to power can make people side with the very prejudices that are aimed at them. It's so incredibly short sighted. I makes me think people like "Mayor Pete" are actually kinda slow.

But in his case, it's because he has the moral fortitude of a bowl of ramen.

Cities are all kinds of problematic, and they can be and usually are shockingly racist, but they force people to live physically near each other, and that *can* lead to lowered levels of prejudice. Hence, dominant classes work very hard to segregate cities and prevent it.

My most woke opinion is that rurality inherently lends itself to bigotry because people are isolated and rarely have to be wound people like themselves - and the rural life is uniquely romanticized by white people

This is what I thinking of. I spent summers at my grandmother's house in the interior of BC where it really is arid/semi-desert. Also, just going from Vancouver to Edmonton makes Edmonton *feel* super dry, "like a desert," but only comparatively.

Yes! That script is *tight*. It's not the Wachowski Sisters' first movie, of course, but it has the feel of a band's first album, where they worked and worked for a decade on all of it, and it's astounding.

Young Frankenstein! You can watch that end to end all day. Every single scene in that movie, "Oh god, it's this part! We have to watch this!"
