Wow, that's quite a news development. This shifts the "terrorism" focus with a need for journalists to more deeply investigate what motivated this individual to do what he did.

I did read it & I understand the consequences for all sent back to 🇦🇫

However, he was granted asylum by the 🇺🇲 so he is not a refugee. It presumably impacts family (or friends). Was his grant of asylum going to be reversed. Those are the details I am looking to learn more about.

You're wondering how he's impacted? Did you read the "Consequences" section in that USCIS Directive? It's pretty obvious if they get deported back to Afghanistan they will be killed.

Thank you. I am wondering how he is impacted given asylum. Is his family here? Are they in danger b/c they are refugees & not granted asylum? So many questions! I know you likely don't have the answers. I am just asking them into the air, not to excuse violence, but to flesh out the wider picture✌🏻

The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

There’s a great deal wrong with religion, & we need more people willing to say so openly.

We shouldn’t stay silent about religious cruelty, misogyny, or bigotry, or ignore the divisions they create, just to spare the feelings of well-intentioned but indoctrinated believers. We must think bigger!

At this point, we should not be debating if Ukraine deserves to join NATO, but if NATO deserves to join Ukraine. If you're unwilling to fight for Ukraine, your neighbor countries will be unwilling to fight for you when your country is invaded.
