I've read this story a few times since it was posted. It is some really excellent reporting and evocative writing that shows just how a drug price can get so out of control and the damage it does.
Cancer drug Revlimid is one of the bestselling pharmaceutical products of all time, with total sales of over $100 billion.

It’s also extraordinarily expensive, costing nearly $1,000 for each pill, even though that pill costs just 25 cents to make.

The Price of Remission: This Cancer Drug Saves Lives — but Costs a Fortune. I Wanted to Know Why.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked ...

Minister Archibald, here’s a tip: try turning that placard around instead of holding it up for another photo op. The real question ISN’T ‘Where’s Our Safe Leave?’ It’s when will you stop posing & finally deliver it? Victims have been waiting since 2022. Enough with empty promises.

Freezing income tax thresholds until 2030–31 is a classic stealth tax. As wages rise with inflation, more low and middle earners are dragged into higher tax bands, while wealth and unearned income remain under‑taxed. Instead of taxing the richest properly, Labour is quietly squeezing workers.

Cutting the Cash ISA limit from £20,000 to £12,000 for under‑65s hits people who are doing the right thing and trying to save for a deposit or a bit of security. Instead of taxing extreme wealth and windfall profits, Labour is dipping into the pockets of ordinary savers.

Timid budget, timid Labour. If you’re done with continuity Tory politics that protects wealth & polluters while services fall apart, it’s time to go Green. Together, we can demand real investment, real climate action and an economy that works for people, not billionaires: greenpartyni.org/join.

Northern Ireland’s headline funding boost masks deeper problems: Labour’s budget still puts the squeeze on working people through frozen tax thresholds, while the richest and big polluters avoid paying their fair share.

The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

Labour's internal polling must be showing a flood of their voters going Green.

The normal thing to do (according to so-called political wisdom) would be to barely acknowledge the party exists while taking and neutering enough of their policies to peel away support.

They're absolutely freaking out.

Families left cold. Kids locked in poverty. Schools and hospitals squeezed while polluters profit. We need real transformation - fair taxes, green jobs, proper funding for public services and a future free from self-harming austerity. Not one step backward.

Where's the 'softly, softly' approach now?!

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Given that the BBC endlessly gives platforms to lobbyists from the dark money junktanks without revealing their interests, shouldn't we be seeing such apologies every day?

Better still, how about not doing it? If they want to appear, we should know on whose behalf they are speaking.

I can't speak for what was said at the protests, but seeing people react to an anodyne statement like "sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law" as if it were a vicious slur is clarifying.
Zohran Mamdani chastised a Manhattan synagogue that hosted an event promoting migration to Israel and settlements in occupied territories. His stance further tested his strained relationship with pro-Israel Jews in New York.
