A friend who I've seen once in the last 20 years invited me to get together over Thanksgiving weekend, but I have family obligations and replied that I'd love to get together some other time soon. I got no response. Did I say something offensive? I'm puzzled.

The problem with Thanksgiving dinner in my experience isn’t that any one food is bad; it’s that you put so much time into making a meal that the only topic of conversation while you eat is how delicious the meal is, and then meal is over and you spend hours cleaning up.
