Anyone else have multiple WIPs going at once, or are you normal?
I had a kid who voluntarily signed up for my college level literature class ask me for reading fluency tips after ONE class period where they had to read a minor role in a play aloud and barely got through it. Reading aloud is very revealing, the same way oral exams are.
One hard part of the literacy problem in the United States is there are a lot of people -- some of them with college degrees and beyond -- who don't realize that they are bad at reading

Okay, I got an important small scene written for my fest fic despite the ongoing torment of my uncomfortable writing setup. I think I'm close to 1500 words for this holiday weekend, which is pretty good with family stuff going on.

I sat down to make serious progress on my fest fic using an old wireless keyboard (because my laptop keyboard is dying) and an old wireless mouse with an unreliable scroll wheel, and the whole setup is so uncomfortable that instead of writing, I ended up shopping for an under-desk keyboard tray. 😭

A friend who I've seen once in the last 20 years invited me to get together over Thanksgiving weekend, but I have family obligations and replied that I'd love to get together some other time soon. I got no response. Did I say something offensive? I'm puzzled.

The problem with Thanksgiving dinner in my experience isn’t that any one food is bad; it’s that you put so much time into making a meal that the only topic of conversation while you eat is how delicious the meal is, and then meal is over and you spend hours cleaning up.
