20 LETTERS

In these twenty letters,
we try ten lines. The test
set, we tether sly intent.
We net the stint tersely.
We intently test ethers.
We try the silent tenets—
try the new, tense titles.
Written, the steely nest
settles twenty therein.
We enter its tenth style.

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

Nice - also eek on the lack of steps!

I had a version of this: I asked students to imagine that they had a research assistant to do their assignment; then they had to write instructions for their assistant; and then they had to become the assistant and follow their own steps.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

Love this!
Sustainability: Last week, Australian Society for Medical Research held its 64th National Scientific Conference - a sold out event in Brisbane. One aspect that I am most proud of are the name tags. They are completely biodegradable - they have seeds in them and will grow when planted!

I saw a brilliant talk at CGI a few years ago — Nick Johnson, Angela Turrou, and apologies to researcher #3 because I’ve forgotten you — that explored optimal times to share student work. Is it better to share polished or incomplete? More engagement and discourse for the latter! #elemmathchat

3x + 10 = 8x - 17

Will get simplified by *many* children to

11x = -7
