Putain oui! Surveillez et punissez!
It’s Foucault Week on GBBO! We start with a signature meditation on our biopolitical relationship with the state. Then, our bakers please Prue with some technical corporal punishment for defying the sovereign. And finally the judges will surveil the construction of towering pastry panopticons!

Left Bank. I could kick around the Latin Quarter, dip my toes in the Seine, and go screw with people touring the Catacombs whenever I feel like being on the nose about it.
just saw this on reddit and the idea FASCINATES me so tell me…where would you haunt? 👀

The Great Gatsby's plot is a trashy and contrived and embarassing piece of shit that isn't even fit for a daytime soap arc.

The Great Gatsby's prosodic beauty remains unsurpassed across all of English literature.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

FanGraphs' model is only giving my beloved #Cubs a 0.2% edge over a coin flip in the wildcard series against SD, despite finishing +2.0 games ahead of them on the season and having home field advantage. Bizarre, but ok 🙄

AFAIK "Freddy Got Fingered" was universally despised when it came out, but it's deadass absurd and hilarious.
lastly, name a movie you didn't bother to see when it came out because everyone hated it but then you saw it at home later and you really fucked with it and it made you wonder if you were the problem or society was. i’ll start with ALI.

I've actually driven this exact stretch of road about 30 minutes before conditions like these set in during that PNW blizzard in 12/2022. I-84 in Oregon can get crazy. It's a miracle nobody was injured!
Major crash in 'whiteout' conditions closes I-84
Dozens of cars, trucks and semi-trucks were involved in a crash on Interstate 84 early Thursday afternoon, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

With his Super Bowl performance on Sunday, Kendrick Lamar used “the Drake candy to smuggle in his thesis on the perils of Black entertainment,” Doreen St. Félix writes.

Very, very interesting conceptual framing.

The piece Lessig links below outlines a compelling case for the what/why/how of Trump's/Vought's actions, and then--as he suggests--those can be integrated into Ackerman's theory of Dualist Democracy ( openyls.law.yale.edu/bitstream/ha... ).

Wow! And I just so happened to get around to watching Emilia Pérez last night.

It was...fine, I guess. A competently-produced and performed musical. But I'm not really sure why it exists or whom it's for.

I certainly don't care if it doesn't win a single Oscar, and that goes double now for Gascón!

Just donated to Trans Lifeline to help our friends and family being persecuted by this new regime. IF you have some $ to spare, please consider doing likewise? Even a few bucks helps. But if not, some real LOUD support from the cis community would also be great. ❤️
