Holy cow. I heard everyone talking about this interview being a train wreck but I was not prepared for how bad this is just from a basic communication standpoint. This is farcical as though it were a bit from Silicon Valley or somethign written by Armando Iannucci.
I am watching the full Linda Yaccarino interview at Code and holy shit. Has she had no media training at all? How is it possible that she's this bad at this. I thought her whole schtick was to be the nice marketing front person. She's awful. www.theverge.com/2023/9/28/23...
Watch Linda Yaccarino’s wild interview at the Code Conference
It was at times odd, uncertain, and confrontational.

This is a good day. A new nuclear plant just came online in the US that will provide power for hundreds of thousands of homes & businesses for more than half a century with zero emissions. Sadly, it's only the second new plant to come online in the last *27 years*.
America’s first new nuclear reactor in nearly seven years starts operations
The third nuclear reactor at the Vogtle plant in Georgia began commercial operation on Monday, the first nuclear reactor to start in the US in almost 7 years.

Thumbs up emoji are legally binding for contracts (in Canada). 👍👍👍

Will be interesting to see how courts interpret other emoji... 🤦
Can a thumbs-up emoji seal a contract? A Canadian judge rules 👍
Sending a thumbs-up emoji as a response could be considered an agreement to a legally binding contract, a judge in Saskatchewan, Canada, has ruled.

New York State built a pretty good digital wallet for state IDs and launched it with vax cards. They said they were 'dedicated' to adding more passes, licenses & records.

They just killed it off because: no more COVID so who would want any of that in the future. 🤦‍♂️🤯

You might have heard the famed photography site DPReview was in danger of going offline. It’s not anymore—because Amazon found an interested buyer, and the internet fought for it.

For Fast Company, I do a deep dive into the deal: https://www.fastcompany.com/90916425/dpreview-amazon-gear-patrol

Him, talking about Paris: I’m sorry, I just didn’t like it. I make no apologies.

Me: You literally just apologized.

Him: I see that.

A member of my team noted that Google Domains only came out of Beta last year. That makes this *so much worse*. It's like publishing an API and then deprecating it a year later. The whole point of coming out of Beta is that you are signaling that people can now rely on your service.

Too many people don't understand that LLMs are susceptible to forms of push polling. A friend was extolling the virtues of LLMs for his work however he didn't realize that he could accidentally force a hallucination. I opened ChatGPT and had the attached exchange. My friend was genuinely startled.
