70 years ago, Rosa Parks’ refusal to move on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama sparked a movement that proved progress is never won without struggle.

To honor her, we cannot accept cynicism or the status quo.

That movement for justice still continues.

Boycotts work. Keep going.

No Democrat has won a statewide election in Texas in nearly 36 years, but the idea of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett running for Senate would mean Democrats are “cooked”?

What the hell have they been?

People need to check themselves on how they talk about Black women.

Wisconsin does not have fair maps, but there is good news! The WI Supreme Court ruled this week that lawsuits challenging the maps can go forward.

In a purple state, there are 6 GOP seats and only 2 Dem seats.

Partisan gerrymandering is wrong, it robs people of their voice.

I praised Mayor-Elect Mamdani for his meeting with President Trump to deliver for his constituents.

I want to praise Mayor Wu, too.

This is what coalition politics looks like, difference of opinion and public discussion. 1/2

Mayor-elect Mamdani is an incredible campaigner and I hope his vision to provide provision for New Yorkers passes city council and gets support in Albany.

That said, endorsing Representative Jeffries to be the next Speaker of the House does nothing to help that. 1/4

11 years ago today, 12 year old Tamir Rice was gunned down by police officers on Cleveland’s west side.

The officer shot him within seconds of arriving at the park he was playing in.

Tamir’s life mattered. It still does. My thoughts are with his family today.

Mamdani meeting with Trump is simply good governance on behalf of the people of NYC.

When you believe in your ideas, you tell everyone and you go everywhere.

There’s a difference between campaigning and governing and “Trump bad” isn’t a viable governance plan.

The Mamdani - Trump meeting showed just how weak Democratic leadership is.

Both Representative Jeffries and Senator Schumer need to be replaced.

Wow.

When the GOP calls every social safety net measure “socialism,” votes like this matter in a policy context.

House Minority Leader Jeffries voting with the GOP in favor of this resolution is showing his ultra-wealthy donors exactly who he fights for.

It’s not the people.

Join us on the Target Boycott picket line as we stand together against the attack on diversity, equity, and inclusion! Let Target know that we ain’t buying it!

We are boycotting Target because the company went back on its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

If the company wants to bring customers back, they should bring back DEI programs.

Doing everything BUT the right thing.

We’re just a few months away from Black History Month.

Every year, people say we don’t need a Black history month, but this shows that we do.

There are people who are erasing our history, we won’t back down.

We saw this week in Indiana that the way to fight partisan gerrymandering is to organize the people impacted.

That’s what fighters do.

I’m 100% against partisan gerrymandering in all instances.

It’s undemocratic, it goes against the mission of protecting democracy.

Working class Americans from all backgrounds are sick and tired of spineless politicians playing the blame game for inaction.

That goes for Democrats *and* Republicans.

People can’t afford things and it’s only going to get worse.

I’m grateful to be named to The Root 100 list of 2025 for helping lead the Target Boycott.

This honor belongs to the people who stood up when Target turned their backs on us.

We warned them: turn your back on our communities, and we’ll turn up the pressure. And we have. 1/2

Democrats need a vision that centers the people. It’s why @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is going to be the next mayor of New York City.

Any leader in the Democratic Party standing in the way of progress needs to go.

The world lost a giant.

D’Angelo was more than a musician, he was a vessel of soul, a conjurer of feeling, a truth-teller in melody and rhythm. He bared his soul with every note and we felt it.

Thirteen unhoused people were hurt in Minneapolis.

And America shrugs.

These folks are not invisible. Not disposable. Not less human.

The relative silence on this tragedy is a moral failure.
