The 2005 White Sox had absolute freakish good fortune in starter durability in an era where everybody went 180+ innings a year and effectiveness and had a great bullpen and they still needed 6.
I love the assumption by ... just about everyone that each team needs five starters when, in the real world, a team needs to be eight deep.

I nearly did a spit take when Getz was like, "Well we need to be able to protect Schultz and Smith as they ease into the rotation." Dude let's see if they can get any major leaguers out firs cause that's not a given.

If the Dylan Cease trade tree grows long and numerous enough roots maybe one of them will be decent for the White Sox eventually.

100%. Also a great reason to note that the QO penalizing signing teams is just incredibly stupid. If you want to provide a bonus to teams losing premium players, god bless, throw some picks at em. But there's no good reason to penalize the signing teams. Not to mention it's obnoxiously complicated
Agreed with this. I also think we were overdue for more players accepting the QO. (Less than 10% had taken it entering today.) If you're Grisham or Torres, your market is going to take a real hit with draft-pick compensation. Taking the tender isn’t ideal, but it’s probably the best path forward.

In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.
