They say AI will replace the web as we know it, and this time they mean it. Here follows a short list of previous times they also meant it, starting way back in 1997. Wired: March 1, 1997: “You can kiss your web browser goodbye” – Kevin Kelly and Gary Wolf, The Big Story. 1Inspired by the success of PointCast, a clever application that displayed news headlines as a screensaver, our "Push!" story argued that Web browsers were about to become obsolete.

The funniest part is the notion that ranchers and farmers get to set their own prices.

They probably got a decent laugh out of that one. 🤡

Visual. Visual appealing, pleasing, functional, holistic.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Graduate: Here is my business case – comes with user testing. I've written a whole thesis. Read me.
Meanwhile the visual outcome: Ugly as f*ck.
#UX/UI is one of the most destructive bits of design theater that we, as a community have inflicted on ourselves.

It's Visual Design, not UI design. To assume "Design" is composed of just two parts is both crazy and confusing. The world sees UX/UI and thinks "Pixels"

Dacia made a boxy, low-cost EV that weighs less than 2,000 lbs, and just in case that wasn't enough to win me over they called it the "Hipster"

Only 2 days left until I close the call for papers for this year's #HTMHellAdventCalendar
So far I've received 11 submissions for this year's #HTMHellAdventCalendar. They look fantastic, but, you know, I need at least 24.

You can write about anything you want related to HTML. There's no “too basic”; we need more fundamental HTML knowledge out there because we suck at the basics. 1/2

Nothing marketed to you this relentlessly is ever worth it. If it was, they wouldn’t need to beg you.

Wow this whole thread.

Was talking with @himself.bsky.social the other day about whether/when a crash will happen

My view is that AI is not a normal boom and bust; there's so much political and actual capital - and geopolitics - tied up in sustaining it, that normal economic rules don't apply.
The AI infrastructure build-out is so gigantic that in the past 6 months, it contributed more to the growth of the U.S. economy than /all of consumer spending/

The 'magnificent 7' spent more than $100 billion on data centers and the like in the past three months *alone*
