Running, cycling, parkrun, active travel. Can often be persuaded to partake of chocolate.
Remembered that I have two duathlons coming up in a couple of months so opted for a quick run-bike brick sesh this afternoon. Three short alternating intervals of each with 'transition' in the back garden.

Pleased with how it went, in a wobbly-legged kind of a way...!

8 - and it turns out one of those wasn't an 'official' answer (although others have noted it too).

I always loved these when I was little, but goodness me, they're fiendish!! 😱

Reminder today of what #parkrun is all about!

I enjoyed running with a friend who was doing his first full parkrun back after cardiac surgery. At the same time, D was using the exoskeleton for the first time to help keep him parkrunning. So much support for both of them!

I don't go into the local office in Peterborough very often - more usually in London, York or Bristol. But popped in today and noticed that they have a shelf full of dinosaurs and fossils from nearby quarry digs! So cool - and appropriate for my office-formal footwear today too!

Running buddy and I have wussed out of our Thursday evening run for the last few weeks as the weather has been 'orrible (and, let's be honest, no one is making us do this!).

But tonight we stuck to our guns and headed out in the rain. Really enjoyed both the run and our chips afterwards!

I usually work a half day on Wednesday. It's great 👍

This week, I unavoidably had to be in London for work on Wednesday so switched my half day to Tuesday.

My brain now thinks today is Thursday. So yay, tomorrow is actually Friday, and we're nearly at the weekend.

Sound OK to you guys?!

Shout-out for the construction work at Euston Station, which meant I reached today's step count by dint of going in a giant circle between two buildings 30 metres apart.... 🙄

An evening of practicalities and logistics, sorting out running/cycling events booked, and what needs accommodation.

Another night at the ever-glamorous Slough West Trading Estate Premier Inn beckons... 😂

Some impressive skies over #stamford this afternoon!

Nice 5-mile stroll with son, swapping my usual #WednesdayMorningWander for a Tuesday afternoon as I need to be in a meeting in London tomorrow. Given tomorrow's forecast is for rain, rain and more rain, not too sorry to get my fresh air today!

The theme for today's walk was water.

Lots and lots of water.

Amended my original planned route due to not being up for wading, but still managed a good 6-mile leg stretch. Almost no knee pain too, so fingers crossed that's settling down now 🤞

A walk up the lane and another go on the exoskeleton (robo-legs)!

Such an amazing invention - already making a real difference to our leisure time and doing things together.

Plus, check out that sunset!!

A very dank and soggy #rutlandwater #parkrun this morning. A big well done to the 360 people who turned out to walk, jog and run - and massive thanks to our damp volunteers ❤️.

A slow one for me - knee not quite right but change of shoe helped! 👍

Toad-in-the-hole and roast potatoes for tea. Nutritional benefit of a bath sponge, and exceptionally diet-unfriendly.... but my goodness, it was good!

Probably not the best pre-gym fuel, if I'm totally honest 🤪

Absolutely gridlocked in #stamford earlier, due to roadworks and school traffic.

Was I glad I was on my e-bike and zipping past it all? Why, yes - yes, I was!

First day back at work after my New Year break.

Just about ready for another holiday now...

Very cold but no ice, so all good to get back on the e-bike to pilates this evening. Felt so much better than having to drive - even cycling home in sleety rain felt refreshing and clean.

Love my e-bike!

This is a very good thread, all credit to @monkemma.bsky.social.

But does beg the question, why aren't the mainstream media doing this more often. Surely this is standard investigative journalism - or used to be when I worked on local papers many years ago...
I was asked to look at this post!

And while the story obviously has important context that’s missing from the headline - which I’ll cover obvs 😜 - what’s more important is to question why this is being posted!

And what to ask yourself when you see something like this…

If this is in your neck of the woods, then do yourself a favour and go.

I'll admit to a little bias as the book is one of my absolute faves, but honestly, you don't need to have read it to enjoy the insights and entertainment of this show. Well worth your time!
Heading out on the road again soon with the absolute ship show. I know! Wallop. Come along and I'll tell you all about the shipping forecast with jokes, and that.

Had some company for this morning's #WednesdayMorningWander.

Son was between taxi jobs and joined me for a nice 3.5 mile amble along Maxey Cut. Not the most dramatic scenery, but avoided the early ice and frost, and the sun on the water looked quite beautiful.

Very sad to read this. Volunteering is such an important - and fun - part of parkrun. I always get a little annoyed looking at parkrun results and seeing people with 100's of run credits, but little or no volunteering. Parkrun is also about giving back - not just taking.... 😢
Popular London parkrun cancelled permanently 'with a heavy heart'

Took my car to be washed and cleaned.

I know I don't often drive, and it's still wet and muddy but it was getting to the point that I couldn't see out, and the spiders on the cobwebs on the wing mirrors were starting to get obstreperous about me opening the doors...

Can we make this a national ad please?

Please??

As #brooks no longer seem to want my custom after 13 years, my local running shop has recommended these for my achilles issues. 10mm drop, no rocker sole, neutral but some cushioning. So hard to find a cushioned higher drop shoe and no rocker sole - trainer fashion has a lot to answer for!!
