MĀORI WARDS
40% of areas chose to keep Māori wards. Some by a wide margin.
A better result than I expected, given the demographics and embedded racism in our country.
In areas that lost, I'd love to know whether the numbers have improved since any previous referendum.
Aotearoa on the move.

This is a story about spies. Though they are highly trained, they don’t work for an intelligence agency. They work for paying clients.

1. Researching this week’s column, I felt that I understood at last just why, on so many issues – benefits, Gaza, environmental and planning laws, anti-protest laws, bank deregulation, fiscal rules etc - Labour is out-Torying the Tories. Why it has become so cruel, so destructive and so spineless. 🧵

Anyone who truly wants governance and politics done well owes thanks to @misswhanau.bsky.social for exposing dirty politics + misogyny + bullying. We need to know who we are dealing with. Questioning HER motives is sooooo revealing.
People may question why I’m opening up now, or calling this a political hit job. Frankly I don’t care what people call it, the community DESERVES to know who these men are. If they can’t treat colleagues with basic decency, they don’t deserve to be elected. Don’t be gross, easy as that.

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

I got a courtesy call from the Whakatāne police today. A woman rang them from Tel Aviv to complain about my social media posts. Apparently opposing genocide is a hate crime in her eyes. They assured me that she has been told that no crime was committed.

A reminder that people posting about excess deaths in NZ from the covid vaccine are wrong. Most have been misled into repeating lies. A small number are deliberately creating those lies.
The vaccine saved more people than it harmed. The long list of "mortalities" that is being circulated is made up.
