And the most awesome part is that Baylor doesn’t have enough doctors to handle the sudden influx of patients with ongoing care or those who might need care. It might be months before one can get an appointment. But as long as BCBS is making a profit, who cares, right?

So the Methodist, Presbyterian and UT Southwestern networks of doctors, labs, clinics, mental health treatment centers and hospitals are now out of network leaving just Baylor. Planning a surgery next week? Oops. Ongoing cancer treatments? Sorry. Maybe they’ll approve continuity of care form. 2/3

On less happy news, Blue Cross Blue Shield today left thousands of state and school district employees with limited choices for medical treatment all over Texas. They decided to put profits over people and let contracts with three major providers in the North Texas area expire. 1/2

Once I got the DIRTIEST look during a conference panel when a facilities manager asked me if technology gave me hope for the future. I said ramps are older than old and we still can’t get those put in, so no, it doesn’t.
Tech is only as good as the people doling it out.
