The uptick in the downloads of X and the fact that the Irish government refuse to do anything about it shows the attitude to sexual violence hasn't changed since the Catholic Church ran a pedophile ring here. Going to mass on Sunday or post on X is saying you are a-ok with this flavour of abuse imo.

Using stolen art to make money, colour me surprised. Stay classy British Museum!

Acting like it never happened, also pretty on brand. 🙄
The British Museum posted Al slop and quietly deleted it. Here's what it was and why it matters.

Maybe get back to buses that turn up (and buy back the route you sold), instead of asking what you should do with user data. Just a thought!

(As an aside, if all these new bus routes haven't been created by AI I'll eat my entire wardrobe, never mind my shorts.)

They don't want the state minding people, or charities, or the wider third sector. The market won't ever do such a thing.

I think the #twitter CSAM fiasco is the first time the government has so visibly ceded an area of law to big business. Of course it's been happening quietly for years but this marks a turning point of something so obviously illegal just being ignored by lawmakers in case it upsets the US. #speirgorm

Not going to point out that government wise it's a woman who understands the seriousness of the issue and not the putting them in a bikini would be so beyond niche fetish men they can't even conceive of themselves being victims of this.

Because it's obvious.
AI Minister Niamh Smyth tells the Dáil that if she had the power, she'd have shut down X as soon as it was clear "vile and poison" was on its site.

She says X will be told tomorrow that it will face "the full rigours of the law in Ireland".

As they have done before and they will again. The sacrifice of woman and children to the powerful seems unending.
The fact that Irish people still go to mass, have X accounts and vote FFG, saddens and, sickens me. The carpet they are sweeping these abuses under now looks like a mountain.
I don't generally like saying stuff like this because it's generally bad for how we engage with politics, but it very difficult to conclude anything other that our government is deliberately protecting the worlds biggest child and sexual abuse material producer
Yesterday, Holly Cairns directly raised the existence of an abuse image factory being set up in Fenian street with the Taoiseach. He responded by saying he didn’t know if there was any investigation into it by the polic

It didn't take me long to realise data centres were on the same electric grid as me. Regular cut offs of supply last year made it pretty apparent. When you have disabled neighbours who need electrical aid to get in and out of bed you can't help but get angry. And now they want to build more to [1/2]
As of June 2025, there are 89 data centres in Ireland, all of which have been mapped by The Journal Investigates here: investigates.thejournal.ie/data-centres
