"I Am the Swarm" by Hayley Chewins is entirely in verse, which made it for a very quick read. I liked the tone. It reminded me of how my inner world felt like when I was a despressed 15yo, minus the magic. I liked how magic wasn't used to solve the problems, but more acted as a mirror to them. (1/2)

"Banned Together: Our Fight for Reader's Rights" was the right book to start off 2026. I had it on display in the YA section for Banned Book month, but I didn't get to finish it until now. It's awful how books with LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC rep are challenged just for EXISTING? 10/10 for info/insights.

To this point: Everything is a subscription and it doesn't even make the experience of anything better. Everything is an app and nothing works on a browser anymore. To that end, I'm hoarding CDs and Dvds. You can take my physical media from my cold, dead hands!!
I think a big thing I struggle with, and something that is an important thing for people of my generation to attempt to understand, is separating toxic nostalgia from knowledge of the actual ways in which American life has gotten appreciably worse in my lifetime
