If you read one thing today, it should be this brilliant take by Ed Lucas.

⬇️ They are absolutely being trained to do this, and then to claim that they are being threatened and therefore justified in using deadly force. This is almost certainly coming down from Stephen Miller
Something that needs to be elevated is that ICE agents have been instructed to threaten and illegally detain legal observers. It's a criminal conspiracy to deprive Americans of their 1st & 4th amendment rights.

Renee Good isn't the only victim ICE has targeted and won't be the last.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.

Used to be, "Shoot first, ask questions later," Now it's just, "Hell with questions. We don't care who they are. We just like killing them."
NEWS: In a heartbreaking video, after ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a woman who was in the same SUV cries out: “They killed my wife. I don’t know what to do."

“We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head,” the distraught woman sobs.

The lengths a beetle will go to, to try to get a casting call from @zefrank.bsky.social.
Imagine being the first scientist to notice that some of the ants being studied had two butts & that one of them was a beetle that had latched on for a free ride.

See the mandibles of the beetle (yellow arrow)? Latched on to the ant's 'waist', blending seamlessly.

Ants with detachable butts.

Yes, but he undoubtedly has Putin telling him, "Mr. President, you're the American Tsar. Just like me, you *own* your 'near abroad.' All you have to do is take what's already rightfully yours."
Absolutely true, and somehow not-discussed point:

The US **ALREADY** has all the strategic advantages it could gain by "owning" Greenland. Through treaties and (until now) close NATO cooperation w Denmark

The US has a naval base & 'space force' base there. You see USAF planes at Grndlnd airports
The thing that’s so dumb about this is that there’s nothing legitimate about the strategic importance of Greenland that the US doesn’t get through existing alliances. Denmark isn’t impeding US strategic interests. It’s about them wanting to increase US land area by 20%.

More women have nearly bled to death during miscarriage under Texas’ abortion ban.

Experts say the trend paints a troubling picture of the harms of unnecessary delays in care.

“This is striking,” one doctor said. “The trend is very clear.”

A “Striking” Trend: After Texas Banned Abortion, More Women Nearly Bled to Death During Miscarriage
A new ProPublica data analysis adds to the mounting evidence that abortion bans have made the common experience of first-trimester miscarriage far more dangerous.

One of the many things I find depressing at this moment is how we're not even engaged in some kind of crisis of late stage capitalism on which the other side is plausibly a new political order, no, we're doing shit that's illegal under the 16th century laws of war

We have a government full of rank amateurs playing in the professional league.

Wouldn't be so bad, but in this game much is irreversibly lost.

A dangerous blend of narcissistic incompetence and ruthless malevolence.

“One of the greatest errors European states ever made, was in trusting the USA.”
The idea that the blame should be focussed on trusting Trump is dodging the truth. The US population chose Trump, even after Jan 6, 2021, even after he talked about leaving NAT0 and after he talked about his respect for Putin. It is the action of the USA as a political entity.

When I first heard George Winston’s album December more than forty years ago, I’d never heard Carol of the Bells before, and it’s connection to Ukraine wouldn’t have been significant to me then, if I had. But this is the version I’ve always known, and wanted to hear it again today. Slava Ukraini. 🇺🇦

You can /argue/ that Coca-Cola invented the modern Santa Claus.

But we can pinpoint the origin of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with total precision.

He was invented by Robert L. May in 1939 for Montgomery Ward as a promotional/coloring book.

Ironically, Robert May grew up secular Jewish.

I was asked this on my first try of Q&A on Instagram and decided to share:

“What would you advice younger people who aspire to do politics?”
