IT engineer, does Mac things and writes Python. None of it well.
macOS Liquid Glass, what was wrong with right angles for app windows or at least the more shallow rounded edges like we had.

The roundness of this design is not my favorite.

I’ve also been on a quest to eliminate Big Tech from my life as much as possible. There’s never been a better time because open source alternatives have gotten very good and self-hosting (e.g. using Raspberry Pi with services like Tailscale) has never been easier. open.substack.com/pub/parismar...

I have been watching Shrinking season 2 on Apple TV for the few days. For some reason the Apple TV app on the Apple TV has zero idea what I’ve been up to.

This is a solved problem. How has this software gotten so bad?

Convinced all software is bad these days

Costco really does have all the greatest deals. Just picked up a queen size bed frame made of walnut for like $450.

Almost fully fit inside a golf too 🙃

Cooking lunch before the plumber comes to give a repair quote and hoping the cooking happens before they arrive.

can apple add an option to make it so you can't slide this to change the volume?? The amount of times I've accidentally slide it up all the way with the slip or my thumb is so annoying. esp with AirPods 💀💀😭😭

uv is one year old today. Hard to believe its only been a year. The growth, adoption, and impact surpassed my wildest expectations.

Happy birthday, uv! 🥳

Have a plumber sit in their truck actively writing a quote for 20 minutes can not be a good thing. This is going to hurt.

Thoughts and prayers please.

I’m interviewing people for a role on my team and I’m the one that’s stressed.

That seems weird.

I am begging you: if you are writing a thread of more than a couple posts, get a blog. I don’t mean this in a mean way. I mean: allow this thought to continue to exist, outside of this platform, in an actually coherent, readable format that sticks around for longer than 20 minutes. You deserve it!

We’re building a new static type checker for Python, from scratch, in Rust.

From a technical perspective, it’s probably our most ambitious project yet. We’re about 800 PRs deep!

The thing is, I don’t think the average Joe realizes just how bad the Silicon Valley types are; they got super paranoid because of all the drugs they’re doing, and convinced themselves that the economy was about to collapse, that’s not normal
I will never not laugh that the Silicon Valley-tech-VC guys caused a bank run on themselves via group chat.
the last notable thing these guys did was blow up the bank all of their money was in
