When he took power in 2024, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer immediately set out plans for a big AI bill.

Within a year, his government's view on regulating the tech had changed.

This is the story behind the shift.
How the UK fell out of love with an AI bill
Ministers have gone from promising “stronger” AI regulation to ditching plans for a big AI bill.

NSW will move to ban phrase ‘globalise the intifada’ in crackdown on ‘hateful’ rhetoric. Here’s what we know so far
NSW parliament will sit next week to consider legislation to limit protests and ban hate speech in response to the Bondi attack, Chris Minns says

“The banning of protests will not stop antisemitism, and the premier is wrong to disgracefully link years of peaceful protest to such a horrific and unrelated event. The attack was antisemitic. The protests have not been. To suggest otherwise is to wilfully conflate …” – Timothy Roberts.

Ever wondered why no one talks about the hole in the ozone layer anymore?

It's because we fixed it.

Scientists provided the data, governments implemented policies, and people came together to take global collective action.

It can be done.

Now we need to do the same for methane emissions.
This is another ‘ozone layer’ moment. Now, we must urgently target methane | Mia Mottley
The oil and gas industry must be legally bound to cut methane emissions. With climate tipping points approaching, time is running out, says the prime minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley

All those thinking the private sector would find a way to solve climate change, when of course all it was ever going to do was find ways to produce even more emissions and f*ck the environment royally.

Because well... that's all it ever has done.
