Ghoulish but this is the future of warfare for the foreseeable future. The invasion of Ukraine is like WWI. The new technology means everything has changed on the battlefield.
The Kyiv Independent spent a day with one of Ukraine's top drone units, documenting their missions to hunt down Russian military equipment ― and soldiers ― near Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast, where Moscow is currently on the offensive.

A chemical attack on the town of Douma killed 43 people in 2018. Now Assad has fallen, the enforced silence of those who witnessed it is over

Here's the one hill that I will die on. Malcolm in the Middle is the greatest TV comedy in history bar none. I cannot tell you how excited I am about this news.

Another efficient win for #bskyblades tonight. We're not an especially exciting team to watch currently but we're going about our business nicely.

Sorry, but it is just nutty to suggest that the reason why people are switching from TV to streaming is because TV does not look and sound enough like the UK:

Culture secretary says viewers will switch to streaming services if TV channels’ shows do not connect with them

Horrifying. #Syria
These images should haunt, for the rest of their lives, anyone who helped keep Assad in power.

Almost 20 hours after entering Sednayah prison, efforts continue to reach underground cells. 1000s are believed to be in the 2nd & 3rd floors sealed underground.

Today is a reminder that historical change often doesn't start in London, Paris or New York. It's in places like Aleppo, Timosoara and Sidi Bouzid where the world starts turning on it's axis. It happens there, because the powerful are too busy looking elsewhere to realise what's going on. #Syria

Ever wondered why walking around museums is weirdly tiring? At normal speed our legs act like pendulums, swinging forward from the hip & saving us a huge amount of energy. In "museum shuffle" our muscles must do ALL the work of constant readjustment. So cake in the cafe is scientifically justified 🥳

#StopTheWar backed Assad as he murdered tens of thousands of Syrians. Jolani just stopped the war in Syria.

Israel's pager attack now looks like one of the most significant events in recent Middle East history. Breaking Hizbollah's armed power has had giant knock-on consequences. Syria & Lebanon are just the start. Hamas is stranded without allies. Houthis may be too. A time of change.

It's not Wicked that people need to go to see. It's the Wizard of Oz. In Syria, the Wizard's evil power was an illusion. It's people who grant dictators the power that they don't deserve. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Regimes in Moscow, Pyongyang & Tehran should be terrified.

To be a fly on the wall in Tehran this morning: Khamenei lived long enough to see his entire regional project go up in flames. But the mood is hardly more cheerful for many Arab regimes: Assad's swift collapse exposes the myth of "authoritarian stability" in the region.

Ethic minorities in Syria will be worried at the success of HTS. Understandably. But the horrors of the Assad regime are so appalling that it's impossible to blame anyone who cheers his downfall. He & his cohorts deserve no sympathy. The sooner they're gone the better. But the future remains scary.

The rapid collapse of the Assad regime in Syria is potentially gigantic. So many falling pieces, with almost endless possible consequences. It's the most complicated kinetic game of ethnic, religious and political chess ever.

FACT OF THE DAY. 1 December 1955. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in racially segregated Montgomery, Alabama. Though she was not the first person to do this, her highly publicised protest became a landmark moment in the drive for black civil rights in the USA.
