My dad died on Tuesday night. He died peacefully with us all in the room with him, holding his hands. He was buried yesterday. It’s true when they say you find out very quickly who your real friends are. Turns out we have a lot & more that we didn’t even know existed. Makes the pain a little easier.

Was on the 1am to 4am shift last night with my ill dad. As it’s payday I thought I’d have a look at 2am to see if I was paid. As I’m on unpaid leave I figured I’d get very little. I’m with #ptsb so we all know the answer to that now, don’t we? No idea if I’ve any money at all. #bankingisyourjob

With a very ill parent at home, it’s important to get out and get some exercise and fresh air. Lovely crisp evening.

A real squeaky bum moment there. Had a power cut. Had lamps etc all ready. But dad is on a hospital air mattress. Even doing what we were told to do in the event of a power cut, in under 60 seconds, dad had already sunk quite a bit into the bed. Had a power pack. Power back in 5 mins.

Re Simon Harris & his appalling treatment of the carer on the campaign trail yesterday, I’m now also a full time carer for a palliative care parent. Feck all support. Am on unpaid leave saving the government a fortune. Completely burnt out. FG won’t be getting any vote from me. #ge24 #simonharris

Simon Harris apologises for his exchange with a carer in Kanturk.

"It happened at the end of a long day pretending to care about ordinary people," he told reporters.

Some photos of myself and Monty’s walk in the cold weather this morning. Was nippy but very scenic. Monty wasn’t too impressed with the donkeys

A battle of wits earlier. Monty now knows if he holds out I’ll give in and put peanut butter on top of his Kong. Otherwise the poor dog only has duck nuts, carrots, parsnips and mashed potato in it. #dogsofbluesky #dog #cutehoor

A few days on Bluesky and already received an unsolicited chat from what appears to be a bot account. Reported. Why can they not just feck off? They followed me, so I followed back though I was suspicious of them. My gut feeling was right.

Love this. ‘Queue’ is from the French word with the same spelling (but pronounced as ‘kuh’) meaning an animal’s long tail.

In the 18th and 19th centuries it also referred to a pigtail and was sometimes spelled as ‘cue’, which gave us the name of the long thin rod used in snooker.
the “ueue” in “queue” is really just there as an example

I’ve no allegiance to any political party. We’ve an election coming up. A lot of talk about housing, cost of living etc. Rightly so. My need right now is to have a night nurse to look after my terminally ill dad. Hospice can’t get us one for tonight. We are caring for him at home. We are exhausted.
