Equally uninformed about music, art and science but likely to post on any regardless. ECM nerd and Gerhard Richter obsessive. If I'm playing music: yes, it's supposed to sound like that.

Not a word I thought I'd use about a Labour government, but if this is true then it's despicable.
At least 160,000 people have been granted refugee status over the past five years. It now seems they are intended to be caught by the Government’s plans to make refugees wait up to 20 years for settlement - even for those just months away from ILR

This is fu*king outrageous!

The federal government on Saturday dismissed charges against a Utah plastic surgeon accused of throwing away COVID-19 vaccines, giving children saline shots instead of the vaccine and selling faked vaccination cards.

Asking "why?" a lot as a kid eventually leads imo to physics or religion: in my case it was the former. After work at both the subatomic and galactic scales, I ended up somewhere between the extremes and became a virologist for some decades.

This, from the Guardian, is Ryanair at its very worst.

It's not good enough for them to insist that they're a low-cost airline and everyone knows the rules, in circumstances like this...

I wonder if legislation is needed?

I thought we'd got past the "is this music?" question, but it's alive and well in record shops. To the guy who pulled out the Paul Rutherford album and was then aghast at the music, and asked me "when, under what circumstances, would I ever play this?" - you can play it whenever you like, mate.

Just watched the original version of The Running Man* on Netflix. Am now unnerved by the recommendations it's going to throw at me as a result 😬

*no, I've no idea why either

Where are all the "revoke Shamima Begum's citizenship she's a traitor people" today, I wonder.
Nathan Gill; A traitor who was at the very top of Reform UK, aiding and abetting Russian adversaries, has been sentenced today.

Reform UK should be ashamed. Britain deserves better.

Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

“A vote for Labour is the only way to stop Reform”

Or

“Labour can actually do what Reform only claims it can do”

The government needs to pick one strategy, not both. The government seems unaware that voters can actually hear it trying both messages at once.
