The best tourtière I've ever had was from a pop-up at Venus Envy in Ottawa.

I think about it every time I eat a dry tourtière.

Almost fifty years since Renee Richards fought for the right to play. The New York Times covered the controversy closely, running this collection of responses from their readers that sounds like it could be run today

If it's free, you're the product. Initially server costs are subsidized by investors to lure users and then they look to make that use profitable.

One day, "free" LLMs will steer audiences towards purchases and political positions without users even noticing they're being manipulated for cash.

I've kept updating this list which is at 650+ titles now. There's been so much cultural production by trans and gender diverse individuals and it gets so little recognition beyond the time of its release.
A bibliography for trans history in Canada
This list is not definitive. It started with what was in my own collection, and then I expanded it to cover more titles that I was aware of or had read. Consider it just a snapshot, limited by my own ...

In Greely there's a chip wagon called Food Express that serves Pad Thai, and let me tell you it hits hard when it's -12ºC out.

Celeste Pedri-Spade: The truth is, these heroes were largely created by settler-controlled industries like publishing, media and academia — not by us.

Their success was sustained by gatekeepers who valued marketable versions of Indigeneity over authentic voices.

Has anyone seen the first Castration Movie Anthology?

It's playing at the Ottawa Trans Library on Friday, but it's also 4.5 hours long, and I don't know if I can handle that much movie. So I'd love to hear what you think if you've seen it.

Execs are pushing it because they don't want to be left behind, but they don't understand the tech.

Managers are pushing it because execs told them to. Both use ChatGPT.

Employees on the bottom are told to do something or get fired, even though it's not a good fit, thus chat bots everywhere.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

It's frustrating watching all these trans minds having to dispel rehashed anti-trans talking points instead of spending those words on novel endeavors.

Oh what creative works would we have enjoyed.

I am currently playing Super Mario World, C&C: Red Alert, SimCity 3000, and Westwood's Blade Runner.

I realise now that this is the same thing as my dad listening to the Rolling Stones, Beatles, and Elvis when I was a kid.

I just watched footage of a septuagenarian who pulled out $20k USD refuse to believe the officers + daughter + husband that it's for a scam.

Then I think of the folk who parrot anti-trans talking points who we're told will be swayed by facts.

I don't know what it takes, but it's more than facts.

I restored and colorized this c.1910 photo of Magnus Hirschfeld's 4th, 6th, and 7th patients. They were three of the first trans men to receive medical care and legal support in Germany over 120 years ago. I can't help but appreciate their dapper sense of fashion.

There are so many real problems in Ontario, and this government is fixated on ignoring them in favour of destroying things that were working to please a diminishing Sun readership.

I miss Kathleen Wynne.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero
