And attacks on trans rights, IMHO, are really about creating a world where women are without autonomy.

Our bodily autonomy as trans people, and those of gay people and *gasp* women who dye their hair blue, is threatening to the men who want women to have no options.

There were many positive responses too. But the same people who attack trans rights today are those who attacked subsidized daycare and access to contraceptives then, and the language barely changed.

I'm reading a book about a collective who produced feminist movies that aired in Canada in the 1970s.

The negative responses mirror today's language: women on the pill are "mutilating their bodies", childcare "denies a mother and a father".

You can watch them here:

Cults of personality demand a lack curiousity.

A lack of curiousity in how their leader could do things differently (everything he does is perfect).

And a lack of curiousity in people who are unhappy with his actions (everything he does is perfect, so anyone unhappy is lying/paid).

When we write or draw porn or erotica, we get banned from having a bank account and our livelihoods get seized even if we give it away for free.

When billionaires steal what we've written or drawn to churn out a slop-approximate of porn, they're allowed to charge for it.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I was having a soup at a local cafe and an elderly lady at a table of friends started to recite poetry she had written. Life goals.

This playbook is in Canada too. A good episode.

The new season of Anti-Trans Hate Machine is here. From anti-trans laws to book bans to “school choice” schemes, the far right is using fear to dismantle public education and democracy itself.

@imarajones.bsky.social exposes how anti-trans hate fuels it.

I realise I'm replying five days after you wrote this but I was thinking about this a lot today.
mlys.bsky.social
Honestly, all the more reason to share it.

I don't know what you're writing, so I'm projecting, but we're living in pretty bad times for trans ppl. And there's something isolating when the only stories that get through are happy ones.

It's comforting to have more stuff out there that's genuine.

This has been an apple and book kind of day.

When we get to portray ourselves on TV, you get Sense8 and Steven Universe and Sort Of. When cis people do it you get:

Did a day trip from Ottawa to Mont-Tremblant National Park to check out the La Corniche trail. On the way back I stopped by the casse-croûte du Lac Rémi.

It was very busy with Montrealers, but it's a beautiful drive.
