My therapist sometimes asked me what would happen if I just did things again, and I talked about how terrible it could feel. So, he had me train myself into feeling less, based on a wrong diagnosis. What I did there was numbing myself.

Mental health is often discussed as a thing unrelated to the world around. We need to sort our feelings out or use regulation skills while the world around us is literally burning.
