I suffer from Quantum Anxiety - my anxiety exists in every possible state of disaster and only becomes its 'true' form when the actual disaster is observed, causing my anxiety waveform to collapse.

My wife is going to come with me to my company's holiday party in January. It's 70s themed.

Should I make her watch Smokey And The Bandit so I can dress as Bandit and she can wear a wedding dress?

Saw a post somewhere by an Ohio State fan saying that the coach should be fired for losing to IU (I'm not an Ohio State NOR an IU fan, but that's bonkers)

Saw a post on FB by a Colts fan saying that the coach, front office, everyone should be fired after this season (Because they control injuries?)

Intensely funny because it seems like the vast majority of people at that event were convinced it was fully autonomous and Musk has repeatedly recently claimed they're not tele-operated

My Halloween costume next year. When someone asks what I am, I'll play the song on my phone and do this dance.

I look forward to some specifically worded polls that make "hang violent criminals in the town square" 'popular' and then Matty Y starts advocating for it "because crime deterrent is popular"
it does feel like an intense societal problem that the founder of palantir, the biggest survellience company, thinks like this

Well I actually voiced my frustration to the source of this frustration. Only took me ~40 years, and only brought up this specific frustration.

The fallout is going to be ... interesting.

I hadn't realized Matty Y had decided to be against birthright citizenship on the basis of "well it's unpopular! Whaddaya gonna do?"

This is why I never trust the "Do What's Popular" bros. Because they will give up on ANYTHING based on polls - even if it's enshrined in the fucking constitution!
I continue to think that Matty coming out against birthright citizenship a few months ago should have been taken as a major warning sign that the group chats have already decided to surrender on this.

Digging through Wikipedia, I discovered the hockey team called Hockey Punks Vilnius. Their logo is AMAZING and I want a hat with that logo on it, or hell a jersey.

My experience in school was pretty shitty all around, not physical bullying as much as just... being constantly made fun of, mocked, etc for being the quiet nerd. I hated it.

So far my kids have had a much better school experience. I'm so glad of that

Anti-bullying programs work and are great.
My experience as well. So far we're 2-for-2 on kids having a largely bullying/abuse-free middle school experience. Not without bumpy spots of course, but light years away from what I endured.

My hot take: the anti-bullying stuff has really worked, which is why conservatives are pushing back at it.
for what it’s worth I got roped into helping out with my sixth grader’s extracurricular thing so I’ve had more recent contact with middle schoolers who aren’t mine than I usually do, and biased sample/biased reviewer/etc but my verdict is that the kids are all right

We've done it, folks. The dumbest post on this here website today. Y'all can wrap it up.
If the US Coast Guard stops a ship in international waters and seizes their cocaine, is that a war crime? The ship has not done anything illegal. Should we prosecute the Coast Guard Captain for piracy?

OpenAI designed the affirming tone of ChatGPT to goose engagement because their business model depends on it. Blanket affirmation and encouragement is how we get people turning to ChatGPT as a therapist AND how we get suicide instructions, deepening delusions, and this shit. It's the business model.
New from 404 Media: ChatGPT told a violent stalker to continue running his misogynistic and threat-filled podcast despite the “haters,” and to visit more gyms to find women. The man stalked women in multiple states, including touching and following from work

A-fucking-men.

And before you say 'but it could be regulated!' and 'well it's good at X and we'll all be using it!':

A. It won't be. Not by the government and certainly not self-regulated. Obviously.

B. So what? It's a net negative for society. A free niche things it's good at aren't worth it.
