THEY WILL NOT BREAK US

THEY CAN NOT BREAK US

THEY DIDN'T BRING ENOUGH GUYS

FOR EVERY ONE OF US THEY TAKE, ONE HUNDRED MORE TAKE TO THE STREETS

THERE WILL FOREVER BE MORE OF US THAN OF THEM

THEY STAND FOR NOTHING, WE STAND FOR EACH OTHER

THEY WILL REGRET COMING HERE

MINNEAPOLIS WILL WIN
fear.

they need to demonstrate that resistance is worse than useless, that it will be broken, and that their agents have impunity regardless of their actions.
So… what’s the strategic goal for the administration in Minnesota, exactly?

I’m not being cute, I don’t understand the theory of victory here and want someone to explain it to me.

The argument against ICE isn't an especially difficult one to make politically in this moment. The issue is that people who substantively disagree with abolishing ICE prefer having a proxy fight about strategy to discussing that stance. Many such cases.

I keep bumping into articles asking why people feel worse about the economy than the data suggests they should. Rather than continuing to roll my eyes, I’ll take this as a sign I should write a blog post about this.

New post: In a lot of ways naïve AI boosterism resembles (and is down stream of) commodity fetishism and market fundamentalism. All of these are modes of thinking that erase deeper context of how a system works. misaligned.markets/ai-hype-mark...
AI hype is a mirror of market fundamentalism
Both AI enthusiasts and market fundamentalists gloss over the context needed to understand complex systems.

Cyberpunk as a genre feels like it’s about fear of a recurring past. Back to a world of Zaibatsus, Business Plots, and to the violence of
Blair Mountain. It’s a world where technological progress guarantees the alienation of working people as they are nothing more than pieces in a mechanistic game.
2/ Sound familiar? "Cyberpunk as a genre was never a celebration of technology...The end of the 70s was the birth of modern corporate power and modern perception of technological change..
Mega-corporations more powerful than any government, fascist police serving the status quo and the upper class"

If you want to understand market #capitalism or #economics, information asymmetry is foundational. I argue controlling the flow of information by either discovering real (in)efficiencies or shaping consumer perceptions drives all profit-driven activity. misaligned.markets/corponomics-...
The lethal economics of corporate kung fu
Does competition in market capitalism incentivize increasingly cleverer ways of bypassing economic competition?

#LLMs stand on our shoulders to become giants, using our data and an army of underpaid workers.

Then, at runtime entire subsystems must be maintained to ensure these things work. All of this is in service of the #darkpattern that models alone are intelligences.

LLM “intelligence” is a dark pattern
LLMs leverage scaffolding and user psychology to appear as slabs of raw intelligence in service of a costly illusion.

Nostalgia for academic Twitter (circa 2018) brought me here. I used to write a blog called Philosimplicity and found engaging w/ #philosophers, #academics, and #humanities focused creators stimulating.

I know it's 2025 and a lot has changed online, but hoping to rekindle just a bit of the past.
