Authors, you might want to look at this, www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...
My sole published effort isn't here, one advantage to horrible sales, but I looked up Sir Terry Pratchett and they stole so much of his work. This is absolutely disgusting. Do not support AI in way shape or form, please.

There is, of course, a relevant Terry Pratchett quote.

A cis Black woman was chased out of the women’s bathroom of the RUSD meeting in Riverside last Thursday for being a “transgender in the wrong bathroom” in case you hadn’t heard.

In case it was unclear where this was going all along.

I wanted to write a little something special for Christmas this year, and this is what I came up with.

Happy holidays, y’all. Thank you so much for letting me spend time with you every week

I was struggling with a story recently so I used the “phone a friend” hack. I started an email to a writer pal, describing the problem I was facing. And just writing out the problem like that helped me see a solution. Never even needed to send the email. It's all about changing your perspective.

They have trifle!
I always liked it when they took a long established evil villain and made them more relatable and sympathetic.

Which is why my favourite movie is still, Friday the 13th Part XXVI: Jason Enjoys Afternoon Tea at Betty’s in Harrogate.

📚 Library patrons! Please check out a book you plan to read someday, but not right now. We won’t be able to tell you haven’t read it, it’s good for our metrics, and it prevents good books from getting weeded when they still have a kindred spirit out there.

Just started THE SAINT OF BRIGHT DOORS by @vajra.me on a plane. People ask me all the time how to hook an agent on a first page and this is a masterclass. Look at the first two lines… We are given tone, magic, world build, questions. The use of ‘therapy’ grounds us after a first line of magic.

I really think doomers should look to Ireland, which was a desperately poor wholly owned franchise of the Catholic Church with some of the most repressive laws in Western Europe until very recently, as proof that decline isn’t inevitable or irreversible

You know what would **really** disrupt the publishing industry?
Fair contracts and decent pay for authors.
No AI training without the creator’s consent.
Artists and translators on the cover.
No NDAs for ghostwriters.

I am finally making progress on an overdue project that's been hard for me to feel optimistic enough to work on.
How? By reminding myself that my measure of success is to complete it to the best of my ability, as close as possible to the vision in my head. All other markers are out of my control.

Picked up this little book of writers’ writing rituals, & I think most of em are liars — “up at dawn, 6 hours at my desk, followed by calisthenics, liquor, & reading edifying works.” But David Lynch delivers the goods.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.
