As the Burnham fall-out continues, I find it amazing how many politicos seems to have real difficulty separating “this is a terrible strategic decision” and “this is not the outcome I personally wanted”.

Both options spelled trouble for Starmer. You don’t have to like the decision to see the logic

Basically underestimated the importance of snobbery to our politics, and that ziptying a cheap flag to a lamppost outside a Co-Op looks *rough* rather than patriotic.
Not sure the English flags thing was that brilliant politically. People in general don't like graffiti, they're a pain for councils to take down from flagpoles and lampposts, it's breaking rules to put them up, so - odd thing for politicians to align with; I suspect polls will show they're unpopular
