Can we please just do away with the "in order to show how much of a cultured expert I am in a subject, I will proceed to be entirely unhappy/displeased with all aspects of a topic"? I thought we'd gotten rid of this trend but it keeps cropping up in my podcasts and feeds.

2025 began with my father choosing to withhold treatment for cancer. It ends with my wife being 5 years progression free from a cancer with an 50% recurrence rate of 18 months.
This year we put into practice "you only get one life". 4 countries, 3 continents, 494 species of bird. A well lived year.

I feel insane seeing commercials have a strong implication of "this product is designed for idiots. Look at this mouth breather who can barely function properly!" Like, the guy in a museum who doesn't know why they're there. Or the person with 3 redundant paid accounts. Who are they selling to?!

I have a DRS sign from the 2018 Canadian grand prix. Stroll crashed and the rest of the race was a procession. After the race they let us walk on track and it was just laying on the side of the course.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
