Once it split from US Soccer, the NWSL had the chance to embrace some of the freedom the global soccer world enjoys.

“Recent events have highlighted just how much the NWSL appears unable to catch up to the reality that it is in charge of its own destiny.”

Amad Diallo has had plenty of ups and downs in his career. Now, he’s a key player for United and just put on a show at AFCON.

I wrote about Amad’s stellar season for @us.theguardian.com:

I spoke to women (and one man) about what they find so hot about Heated Rivalry.

"The main reason I read MM is I just absolutely cannot stand reading or watching women suffer at the hands of men – in any way, big or small, anymore... We, as women, can just watch this and relax.”

Iran and Minneapolis are two of the places nearest to my heart; the homes of many loved ones, among other things. Seeing events unfold from afar, I'm struck that my feelings on both are a similar mix: sorrow at the human cost, dread of what could be next, but also pride in people standing together.

Cristian Espinoza played 218 regular season MLS games for San Jose and was the best player on the field for most of them over 7 years stateside.

He played TWO playoff games in that span.

One of the all-time fumbles of talent in league history.

This is really encouraging. There's a lot of low hanging fruit that Adams dragged his feet on (or made worse) over the past four years. Even if he comes short on the more ambitious parts of his agenda, just making real efforts to fix the obviously broken things is such a breath of fresh air.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

Just once I want a goalkeeper to authoritatively rise for a cross, catch the ball, land, and start sprinting forward...but not stop at the edge of the penalty area. Just keep going, holding the ball all the while. As the referee blows the whistle and players try to stop them, they just keep going.
