A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

Many people don't realise how climate change is already - not in the future - affecting our lives. And it's doing so in ways that, once our eyes are opened, we can notice!

For example, food. h/t @climatecentral.org

A new paper from great colleagues takes a careful look at techno-optimism — the belief that technology will largely solve climate change — and what it means for real-world climate action.

This is what climate change looks like. What used to be snow is now rain, and when the rain falls it's heavier so more goes to runoff.

The result is drier conditions, even during wet years.
Kinda interesting to compare water year precipitation with snowpack at a continental scale. Most of the western US has been very wet since October 1, but there is almost no snowpack anywhere except at the very highest elevations because it has been so ridiculously warm. #hydrology #wx

Also, that’s less than 0.5% of people on SNAP
This is a core element of conservative philosophy: If a single "undeserving" person is getting a government benefit, the answer is to take it away from millions.*

*Offer does not apply to tax loopholes or any other benefit enjoyed by the wealthy
Brooke Rollins: "SNAP is a broken program. SNAP is full of corruption. We found 186,000 dead people."

Mark Walter now officially owns the Lakers and the Dodgers.

Just remember that a subsidiary of Walter's Guggenheim Partners owns a stake in GEO, Trump's private prison and ICE detention contractor.

Walter is profiting off the surveillance, detention, and kidnapping of immigrants and US citizens.
NEWS: The NBA Board of Governors has officially approved the sale of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter, the league announced Thursday.

Walter, CEO of Guggenheim Partners and owner of the Dodgers, now controls both of LA’s marquee sports franchises.

I stopped listening to Bill Gates years ago. You should stop too.

Instead, I would listen to *real* experts who know about *real* climate solutions — not tech fantasies.

You would then quickly see how these solutions can improve lives and help vulnerable communities thrive across the world.
Is it possible to ease human suffering, protect nature, and address climate change? Yes, says a team of int'l experts led by Drawdown and Sr. Scientist, Paul West. To find out how, read the commentary: https://bit.ly/4nXIc7

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.

Donald Trump just got a COVID booster at Walter Reed, per the White House physician.

Let’s be clear this is the same guy who downplayed the virus, mocked masks, and turned lifesaving vaccines into a political wedge that cost hundreds of thousands of lives.
