I went out and grabbed some supplies to finish some projects at home (so I can avoid the grotesque holiday shopping bonanza). An employee stopped to compliment the wonder pup, and I wished her luck and said I hoped that people would be nice for Black Friday. She said they definitely won’t. Sad times

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The man is disturbed, something is not right. Our entire society is anti-child of any gender and there are few kid-friendly spaces period.

We just survived an emergency, interim, final protective order, AND appeal hearings. My abuser ex hired a criminal lawyer who kept issuing subpoenas for my non-witness 10yo to testify. I was already deeply concerned about the effects of these hearings on my abused teen, but to make a 10yo testify!!!
Family law lawyer here. Please do not do this to your child(ren). There are other options, & your kids deserve joyful memories.

My birthday is the day after Christmas. My parents' custody decree said that whichever parent I spent Christmas with, I had to spend my birthday with the other one. I spent every Christmas night traveling. From ages 8-14, that was flying across the country alone. So yeah, I've always hated holidays.

I was visiting some folks in Arlington National Cemetery today. One of the staff chatted with me for a few minutes, he was very kind. Also a veteran. He got it. He thanked me for talking, he felt conversation was a lost art these days. And you know? It helped brighten me up a bit, vet to vet.
