Someone makes little arrangements of found objects on top of a fence post on Twelveacre Farm. The photo shows how the latest one looks an hour or two after sunrise on a frosty morning. It’s a ring of little stones and fossils surrounding an animal bone and a larger rusty-red pebble resting on an oak leaf. The objects on the right-hand side of the ring are in shade and furred with frost. Those on the left are in sunlight and stand out sharp and clear.

A recent photo of "Bloody Sky" (from Wikipedia: "Rangitoto is Māori for 'Bloody Sky' with the name coming from the full phrase Ngā Rangi-i-totongia-a Tama-te-kapua ("The days of the bleeding of Tama-te-kapua")" It was a tumultuous, windy day at Narrow Neck Beach near Devonport. The high tide didn't leave much room for beachcombing, and that was wonderful in its own way. The sky was capricious, moody, changeable. One moment bright sun, the next, dark and overcast, the next a mix of the two. Sitting on a bench on the concrete wall/pathway, I felt a sense of awe in the presence of Rangitoto, already mighty even tho' still young in age. The waters of Hauraki Gulf were choppy and churned, dark and gloomy as opposed to the at-times tranquil turquoise. The clouds above appeared as if the volcano was puffing out smoke from an imagined eruption in the making. As Bloody Sky breathed his clouds into existence, I felt humbled to be in such a powerful yet sacred space in this moment in time.
