On the pod, @swin24.bsky.social and me on the darker story behind the Wiles mess: People like her know how lawless the Trump project is but are going along anyway:

I want a hero: an uncommon want,
When every year and month sends forth a new one,
Till, after cloying the gazettes with cant,
The age discovers he is not the true one;
Of such as these I should not care to vaunt,
I’ll therefore take:
Man answering his phone on the train: Yes? Correct, I’m not at work (pause) I’m not going to answer that because I am not at work today. No, you’re going to have to ask someone who is. Goodbye.

Because we all need a bit of optimism, today's new entry for the Historical #Dictionary of #ScienceFiction is "solarpunk". Apparently coined in a 2008 blog post; most recent example from @clivethompson.bsky.social. A few more of this sort are in the queue.

I know Kash wouldn’t be any help catching the shooter at Brown, but I still find doing a podcast about your love life during a manhunt shocking.
lot of awful and insane stuff going on. but if you really want to have a brain bleed this holiday season don't lose sight of Stephen Miller's wife doing a video podcast with the FBI director and his gf about their love life

Still in awe of the people of Chicago. Trump and his party spent so much time trying to get them to give him some sliver of fake reason to do the insurrection act, and there was so much discipline from the Chicago area: sustained resistance, while not giving trump what he wanted

Truly impressive

We must raise our voices for them. I’ll continue to try and follow Rob’s example as an artist and a humanitarian. I hope you do too.

I don’t know what else to do other than try to cherish every moment we are alive, to be of service to every aspect of our existence and to never give up.

Apropos to a post I'm not going to quote: no, you are not fucking obliged to battle the fucking right on fucking social media, or go to where they are. Why make yourself miserable shouting at bots (who don't care) or trolls (who get off on your misery). Make your fucking social media enjoyable, FFS.

These books are so much fun. If you love the idea of a postwar brassy dame solving crimes with a handsome lug by her side, give this series a read!
i see so much love for inclusive detective stories, nick & nora spouses, and solid whodunnits and yet i can get no traction for my series that is all that and more.

can you PLEASE help people know about Viviana Valentine? www.penguinrandomhouse.com/series/GFM/a...
