Climate Change is worse than we think, long grey braid, she/her, tons of books, cat, native plants, art, trees, cooking and eating, full time caregiver. Old white lady in Massachusetts who wishes you well.
One of the best things about bsky is that amidst all the horror generated by the current occupant and his band of bozos you have people posting about their work with galls, and where to find the eel facts you are clearly missing. So refreshing.

My stove broke. I had to buy a new one. I got a Frigidaire, the oven won't hold temp, called it in for warranty work--they set me up with a shop 3,000 miles away. Then with a shop under investigation for shoddy work and no-shows. Do not buy a Frigidaire appliance.

A girl in a science class at OU got a bad grade for a paper she turned in on gender that only cited her interpretation of the bible. She complained to the university and now the university is punishing the professor of the course.
Turning Point at OU posted this girl's essay in full and man is it rough

Ask yourself why there wasn’t this level of wall to wall coverage for this shooting wgme.com/news/local/i...

There is a huge challenge facing us...how to acknowledge the many injustices of our past, reconcile, and move forward into a society where everybody really does have a shot at "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Every nation faces this, not just ours.

This morning's chilly air cooled the ground temperatures enough for some patchy black ice where just enough moisture fell in light rain & snow showers last evening. Otherwise, cool & fair, says Matt Noyes - full forecast at the link: https://1do.us/z09t4r

Things that amuse me in the morning: "My wife is a huge Jane Austen fan and wants to name our son Fitzwilliam. What do I do?"

Americans shouldn't have to worry about being harassed, detained & imprisoned just because they fit an arbitrary racial profile. If there is no due process for everyone, NO ONE is safe. The presumption of innocence is the cornerstone of our justice system. Take that away & you have a fascist regime.

Really chilly central MA in November. The old guy and I stayed up 'till midnight watching The American Revolution, but of course I was awake by 5:30. Made coffee, went out on the deck to bring the suet feeder into play--and the cat got out. It's in the thirties, I thought. Surely he will...

My moon matrons are all about the full moon, but this morning's tiny sliver of a last quarter moon is the moon for me. Just before dawn, "up pops a new moon as thin as a nail-paring."

A thought to distract from the sh*t show: why are humans so into penis art? I mean, the romans had phalli e v e r y w h e r e and it's a default dirty window motif. Is it just men who draw peckers? Why don't women scrawl vaginas on walls?

Let's be clear: I would far rather young people who are pro-person, rather than pro-corporate, run things. The experienced politicians are willing to preserve the status quo that preserves them and penalizes the unwealthed. Let's turn this stupidity around.

Today in OMG how appalling: "deathbot" avatars that mimic your dead loved ones. I'm 75, so my much loved friends and family have been departing this mortal coil with distressing frequency these days but the idea of encountering an AI version of them makes me want to shoot the laptop.

Long video, but worth the full watch. It covers Peter Thiel’s journey, showing how much control he has and the danger he poses.

“That moment gave away what Peter Thiel really is: a greedy, selfish person who wants to own the world and will invent any fantasy he can possibly think of to justify it.”

The NY times annoys me on a daily basis, but the headline about conservatives discouraging the use of hormonal birth control in favor of more natural methods was illustrated with a picture of a pregnant woman. Right on.

I listen to Braude and Egan on NPR but I do not understand why they are so in love with Chuck Todd. Yesterday he says that people want capitalism, they just want it to be regulated. No, Chuck, we had that and the wealthy class did not rest until they blew it up, which is why we're here.

dissatisfied by the New York Times coverage of Zohran Mamdani?

great news! I talked to the guy Thursday about his campaign’s success at bringing community together beyond this election, and contextualized how it’s potentially shifted youth engagement with politics by simply listening @teenvogue.com
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

On my way to Wordle I scan the come-ons from the whores on seventh--oops, I mean the NYT and the title of an audio piece caught my eye: "testosterone is giving women back their sex drive." You can keep mine, thanks. We're supposed to stay frisky until we die, and you can have my share of that.
