One of my favorite pieces in my original comic art collection: a 1989 illustration by Jaime Hernandez of his character Penny Century, her billionaire husband H.R. Costigan, and their daughter Clarita.

Used for a Love and Rockets calendar & postcard set. Signed by Jaime Hernandez at a show in 2023.

Wonderful
One of the great pleasure of having Jaime Hernandez on campus is hearing and seeing his pleasure at our engagement with comics across the curriculum. #comics #msuenglish @cssorg.bsky.social @msumuseum.bsky.social

Yup.
I'm rereading a lot of Love and Rockets comics at the moment and I am reminded that Jaime Hernandez is my favourite comic book artist bar none. So clean, economical and characterful.

This early Jaime Hernandez Love & Rockets page is coming up for auction at Heritage Auctions and I'm sure it'll go for a high price. I've always loved this page, especially the title lettering and that scary monster in Maggie's dream.

Can’t let art languish in dusty portfolios so I’m building my art corner in this room with framed Jaime Hernandez and Peter Bagge originals.

Picked up this terrific signed and numbered Charles Burns print recently. It features all 36 images Burns drew for the 1992 Goon Squad card set from Kitchen Sink comics. All of the great Burns characters from this era are there: Big Baby, El Borbah, and more.

Was lucky to win this Jaime Hernandez page last night from one of my favorite Love and Rockets storylines, "Chester Square." I've picked up the two preceding pages over the years. Just masterful work, and that middle panel with Maggie has stayed with me since I first read the story in the early 90s.

Been reading @scottmccloud.bsky.social’s work for decades, and even included Understanding Comics on syllabi back in my academic days. But now I’m also the proud owner of some McCloud original art - the cover to Zot! #5. 🎉

Bonus: a pic from 2010 of McCloud delivering a presentation at Stanford.
