much like nietzsche divided the world into a dionysian and apollonian dichotomy, i prefer to look at things through a kongian or godzillesque framework

I legitimately think that SubGenius theology is an important coda to Marxism; the latter is obsessed with "labor" and I feel SubGenii were the only ones doing any kind of examination on what the opposite of labor must be; slack.

We should start referring to unnecessary reboots and legasequels as "Unbidden Lore". Nor "forbidden"- that implies you want it and can't get it. Unbidden lore is the kind of lore that's dumped on you without consent.

You know how every sci-fi setting eventually gets around to having space Jews, space Roma and space Mormons? There's usually also space Mongolians and space Romans in there too.

We should start having space Juggalos as a stock sci-fi culture. Set hailing frequencies to Woop Woop!

I think one of the reasons I love theme parks so much is that while culture accelerates to the point where very few things are relevant for more than a year or two, big theme park rides or installations can sit for a decade otherwise divorced of context and almost seem like corporate-dis-synergy

Why the fuck do people refer to things from 19th century America as "Victorian"? We don't talk about Victorian France, Victorian Germany or Victorian Japan, we never had a Queen Victoria here.

Me: "My high fantasy D&D kingdom has eliminated the carceral state"

Everybody: "That's good!"

Me: "I did it by having them execute all accused criminals and doing the trial post-mortem, having them resurrect those declared innocent"

Everybody: "That's bad!"

Legitimate question.

Why is it such a big deal that movie theaters go away and cinema becomes a home medium?

While there are people still nostalgic for video game arcades no one can seriously argue that the art form of video games was threatened by their closing

I went through a transhumanist phase when I was a teenager and that's fine, it's a great philosophy for someone who's biggest concerns involve mountain dew and Pokemon.

But holy shit there are grown ass men (and they're almost all men) who still call themselves transhumanist. Lol. Lmao even.

Imagine if humanity finally made it to the stars, joining some sort of alien confederation and we find out that the defining characteristic of mankind isn't something like free will, our capacity for warfare or diversity but like the fact that we had a bronze age in between our copper and iron ages
