It's ultimately a pretext for austerity. The review will come out criticizing current access, call for more resources but instead be used to strip services and limit access. It's exactly what they did to trans youth. Young people with disabilities will be left with no options or treatment.

You can't separate this from the Atlantic article claiming their are too many students with disabilities. It's a moral panic meant to push out young people with disabilities from access to resources and to reify ableist bigotry. It's exactly what they did to trans people.

One of the most striking things about these ICE/BP raids is not that they’re all kitted out for war while going after people who didn’t do anything wrong and don’t pose a threat, but that they always bring a camera crew.

I would just like to say, for the record, that I am unhappy with my tax dollars funding strikes from the military whose purported reason for existence is to protect my country upon civilian boats under the pretext of a new drug war I'm also not comfortable with my country being in.

I just want to stress that this has nothing to do with the rest of the chapter. She has an epigraph, a bizarre intro paragraph, a description of Britney Spears dancing in 2002 and then a section about Donald Trump promoting birtherism.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Hillary Clinton calls half of Trump supporters were "deplorables"*: media frenzy… you can't talk about Americans like that!

Donald Trump calls Somali-Americans "garbage": oh, that Trump, such a rabble-rowser!

*"half" was being too kind.
here's Trump's full racist rant about MN's Somali community: "Somalians ripped off that state for billions. And they contribute nothing... Ilhan Omar is garbage. She's garbage. Her friends are garbage. These aren't people that work... They come from hell & do nothing but bitch. We don't want them"

i'd go even further and say there is a reason even nixon kept this kind of stuff to himself. you would have to go back quite a bit to find a point at which is acceptable for a president to say anything like this *in public*, to say nothing of in the oval office.
I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

ACIP is scheduled to meet this week and the members are expected to vote to delay hepatitis B vaccination.

Hep B vaccines are currently given at birth because babies who contract the disease (which happens through fluid exchange) have bad odds with liver cirrhosis and cancer.

Organizations that compromise on the principles they purport to stand for are committing a form of self-death. They stave off dissolution in exchange for a hollow, zombie-like existence.

One wonders what other women the Women's Institute and Girlguiding will sacrifice next without a fight.
