Especially the original which included basically no documentation about how the fuck anything worked + bugs which would just cause you to lose inventory items or for weapons to not work the way you expected. Savescumming required. Still need to go back and actually beat that bastard.
xcom I think had a rogue like sensibility before they were big, when the expectation is failure and the game repeatedly throws almost no-win scenarios at you so that when you do magically pull off a miracle turn you feel like a tactics god and you remember how your rookie saved the day. xcom baby.
