My brother got me this mini for Christmas. In honor of him also recommending the new Digimon game (it’s a blast!), I painted him up as Leomon!

Had a wonderful night ringing in the new year with the kids. Painted a couple pirate ships, had a Dragon Prince marathon, and got this cow built - with a full 40 seconds to spare before 2026 officially began.
Two 3d printed miniature pirate ships. The nearer, smaller one is painted a bright, yellow-brown. The much larger one in the background is painted a menacing dark brown. Both are disassembled for easy access. Various painting supplies are strewn across the table the two ships are currently berthed at. A Warhammer: Age of Sigmar miniature. While officially named, Alarith: Spirit of the Mountain, I’ve taken to calling them Big Cow.

Finished my first test model for my Sylvaneth Spearhead. Definitely have a few tiny details to sort, but loving how it looks!

I’m excited to see how the other two go - I’m testing out different tree types to see which I like best.

Spent the first chunk of my winter break assembling some minis for my kiddos to pant up (my oldest and I won them in a local comp).

Gotta get ‘em primed next. I can’t wait to see what the kids do with them!

I’m going for “Arctic hunting party.” I’d say it’s looking *pretty cool* though I painted it at a *glacial* pace.

Trying to wrap up my first diorama for a competition next Tuesday, and I felt like I needed to post a progress pic to get my morale up. I’m loving it, but it’s so much more work than just painting a single guy.

Today is the day to repost this meme about International Men's Day, one of the most unironically wholesome memes that has ever been made.

Nerdy kid at keyboard: Hi guys, I've noticed that it is International Men's Day today, and I'm confused. Why do we need a day to talk about men? We're not a marginalised group like women, queer people, or people of colour. The media is already full of stories about men. Big buff shirtless dude at keyboard: I'm glad you asked, champ. Whatever your view on men's place in society, it's still true that we face a lot of issues - like social isolation, risk of suicide, health problems, and attitudes towards sex and child rearing. Having a day to talk about those doesn't take away from anyone else's problems. In fact, having a day to talk about them helps us be more mindful, and listen better at other times. Second shirtless buff dude on a couch at his laptop: The chief here is really on to something. I want to echo what he said, and also point out that the idea we should remain silent about our problems actually contributes to a lot of our issues. We are human beings, with human needs. Seeking mutual support and understanding isn't the same thing as placing a burden on others. Especially if we're providing it for each other. Third buff dude at his laptop: Right on, my fellow kings. We've inherited a social legacy of competition and division, and a lot of what makes a man in our era is under question. IMD is a chance for us to examine and rethink what we are together, and build the bonds of solidarity and support that will make a better way possible - like in this meme. Because in our hearts, we're all curious kids and buff guys on keyboards.

Finished just under the wire - got a model done in time to celebrate Orctober!

He was a blast to paint, but was also a reminder that resin models are a pain. They’re just too fragile (hence the monkey’s little capped arm).

Miniatures and models: Simulation, Mimicry or Abstraction or a combination of the 3.
When you paint miniatures/terrain you are making decisions as to style even if you are not aware of them. These 3 techniques are IMO the most common. Gonna Waffle.

Inspired by the models I got for my birthday, I knew that I need to get through some of my painting backlog. So I got back to work on these lizard guys!

But then, I get a call from a friend. At 10:30pm! To check the mail.

And now my backlog is even bigger 😂

I can’t wait to get this one painted!
In the foreground is the test painting of the weapons and armor these warriors are going to end up with: ice-inspired / frosted blue. In the background, 10 Saurus warriors with royal blue weapons, deeply unfinished, that will eventually match the test models in front. An unopened Devilfish model, gifted for my birthday.
