All of this time, money, effort, and goodwill wasted. All for a relatively short extension that was supposed to be a small part of the long-term plan to Long Beach.

Metro only has themselves to blame by considering Hawthorne in the first place. Way to think small and fumble at the last minute.
Vote on Motion 11.1 - to support shifting Torrance rail to Hawthorne Blvd alignment - approved unanimously. Likely delays South Bay light rail extension for the foreseeable future.

Your regular reminder that Gates is not a “good billionaire.” Again, there’s no such thing as thing as a “good billionaire.”
As Bill Gates recommends a “strategic pivot” away from climate change, the Gates Foundation made record investments in fossil fuel companies in 2024, despite its 2019 pledge to divest.

No one should ever listen to Gates about climate change again.

We really do need a subway underneath the entire length of Santa Monica Blvd. I know there are basically no plans for this in the future, and the K Line plans don’t seem to be future proofing this idea, but wow is it needed.

This has always bothered me. Why would we hire someone who says that the hiring company is the problem and they want to get hired to “fix it”? Nah, no thanks. I want that person as far away from government as possible.
Republicans say you can't trust the government and they get elected to office and prove it.

2025 has been a rough year. What's one piece of art that's brought you absolute joy despite everything?

People are surprised when I tell them I’m not afraid of being assaulted while living in LA but I am afraid of traffic violence.
Deaths on CA roads (~4,500) outnumber the homicides (1,666 in 2024). Deaths from breathing polluted air = about 5,000 per year according to @airresources.bsky.social. Maybe put more effort into reducing transportation-related and air pollution deaths, no? data-openjustice.doj.ca.gov/sites/defaul...

How cute is this little corner cafe in San Diego?! Always busy with people hanging out inside and out on the sidewalks.

My life became so much happier when I started driving less and walking/biking/using public transit more.
I’m not religious, but I’m developing a personal faith:
time spent driving is the root of a lot of modern suffering, and it’s a moral imperative not to induce more of it.

'Andor' is ending. It brought untold stories of trauma and humanity to 'Star Wars'
“Andor” ends with the release of a three-episode series finale on Tuesday. The Disney+ streaming show took “Star Wars" to previously unexplored places, including depiction of the long-term effects of trauma.

One major misconception about #choral music is that it is monochromatic. It certainly can be, but this misconception is often rooted in the idea that singers only produce sound in a single, fixed way. There’s much more to the voice than just bel canto technique.

One of the things that stood out going from Andor to Rogue One was how rough the music in Rogue One is. It’s just feels disjointed and awkward, like it’s attempting to mimic John Williams while trying not to be obvious.

Would love to see a re-score of Rogue One done by Nicholas Britell.
