ICE just showed up at our house for the second day in a row. Four cars yesterday, today five. They rolled up slow, then got out to taunt us, and take pictures of the house. They want fear to overwhelm us, to project a fantasy of power meant to intimidate, isolate, produce obedience—not happening.

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

How fucked is shit? Shit's so fucked the state AG is putting out information about how to protect your digital presence against the federal government.
Last week, my office released the following consumer alert on how Minnesotans can protect their digital privacy from DHS agents.

I urge all Minnesotans to take steps to protect themselves online from the federal government’s overreach and lawlessness.

These are FAR from enough. But they would be a vast improvement over what's happening in Minnesota right now.
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms

1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities.

2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct.

3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.

These are good asks. The mask agents in roving patrols are causing so much stress and chaos and terror every single day for our entire Metro

Oftentimes I’m asked by non-Minnesotans how we stand living with our harsh winters in Minnesota.

I hope the country has seen over this past month that Minnesotans, while generally reserved by nature, generate a warmth of community.

It’s that simple.

Collective trauma, and neighbors helping neighbors.

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

Yes, as people here in Minneapolis keep shouting, ICE’s Minnesota siege is, among other things, A HORRIBLE WAY TO DO IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT. To randomly grab a single pedestrian who probably ends up being a citizen, they need 12 guys and to tear gas a bunch of people! It’s insanely inefficient!
IDK why right-wingers keep bringing up Obama's record deportations, it just shows that if you wanted to have a conservative immigration policy without partisan militias occupying cities and gunning people down in the streets you could do it and a lot of americans would be fine with it

We now have 48 detainees in the Crow Wing County Jail
I live an hour north of Minneapolis and they’re here too. They’re rounding up workers in chicken processing plants and breweries.

Happy update: One of these folks just received approval of their permanent resident status.
Yesterday, I drove refugees that had been shipped off to Texas all the way back home to St. Paul

Seeing them reunite with their families reminded me this is their home.

So keep sending them to Texas. I’ll keep driving ‘em back and introducing them to Bucc-ee’s and KC barbecue along the way.
