Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

Pew Research Institute (2023):

• Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants

• Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants

• Blue State Minnesota has 130,000.

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

President Trump is stress-testing American law, and the law is failing the test. The health of the American experiment rests far more on the integrity of any given American president than we realized. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/18/o...

This is so bizarre to read today. What have we become when the "satire" of 2016 becomes the reality of 2026.
@mattmotta.bsky.social thanks for this share.
The Boston Globe Test:

This satirical front page imagined a Trump presidency in 2016. Critics (including Trump himself) dismissed it as "alarmist" and "propaganda" at the time.

Do these headlines feel normal today? Even...quaint?

If so: we have grown more accepting of what was once unthinkable.

Attention NYC: We made it past the earliest sunset of the year.

No, it's not on the solstice. That's the shortest day, but the earliest sunset is sooner and the latest sunrise is later.

So those of us who, like me, are primarily offended by early sunsets have officially survived rock bottom.

I thought Walter Isaacson had a great line about this on TV the other night: That line in the Declaration wasn't a fact, it was a mission statement
In Ken Burns' new documentary, "The American Revolution," the idea that colonists of all stripes took to heart Thomas Jefferson's declaration that, "All men are created equal," was revelatory.

It was a principle which the masses, then and now, deeply embraced. That's why American democracy works.
