Finale Pyramid Head fight still kinda sucks, but that was probably always gonna be the case. Final boss was so heavily improved it’s stunning.

James, I think, comes out as remake’s best adapted feature. Actor is excellent, and the little moments are so good.

SH2R great!
But SH4 still the GOAT =)

SH2:R just kept getting better at it went on. I still think the Hospital is probably it’s most successfully handled location, but both Prison and Hotel are great. Never felt tedious or blocked, backtracking never felt bad or over-wrought.

Abstract Daddy rework was a huge win. It was always so odd how it was handled OG SH2. The new one isn’t mind blowing or anything, but it’s a fun sequence leading up to the (very easy but decent) fight. Loved how he looked.

Eddie fight was actually fun, which is a triumph of gargantuan proportions.

SH2 Prison was also very good.

The game definitely has that quality almost every Survival Horror game has tho, where the first few hours are a stressful mess of low to no resources, and then once you hit the middle + onward you’re just absolutely drowning in ammo if you spend any time looking.

SH2R hospital was tops.

James continues to be endearingly the worst, and Maria really has a lot of room to feel like more than she did in the original.

As for the others, Laura and Eddie are about the same, with Laura’s new VA putting her a bit ahead, but Angela is really great this time around.

You may assume implementing a basic income system helps those benefitting from it purchase things and therefore maintain the productive economy but this is actually propaganda from woke gay videogame victoria 3

RE Village asks us the question: What if we had the a bunch of really cool ideas, none of which fully get fleshed out, ultimately leading to a disappointing confluence of potential and payoff.

Also it’s awesome.

I’ve seen a smattering of folks really turned off by the Octopath 0 demo, but I haven’t seen any info on why, which has made me much more likely to play the Octopath 0 demo.

I’m watching a really good video on why Resident Evil 5 is derivative and dull; very well made.

Unfortunately, I like Volcano Wesker.

I think GDT Frankenstein would be made about 30% better by the removal of a few bits of dialogue, and with a little bit more faith in the audience. It really does feel like somewhere along the line someone made the call that ‘you really should be able to tell who the good guy is,’ which is painful.

TIL Nadu was still legal in legacy until just now.

GDT Frankenstein quite good. It’s a neat take on split subject matter (maybe 15% film, 50% Novel, and 35% new), and interestingly the most pro-creature version of the story I’ve seen, unfortunately in ways that shave a good bit of the moral complexity away.

Still, a great watch.

This may be the most insane string of text I’ve seen in months. Consider me extremely invested in this video.
NEW VIDEO: In 1996 Kenneth Branagh released an epic 4 hour version of William Shakespeare's Hamlet. In 1997 it got an official videogame adaptation that fell into deep obscurity.

Until now.

I think I feel the same way about Sam Lake that some of the most insufferable people (lovingly stated) feel about Hideo Kojima.

Brave of Bloober to improve the combat in SH2 (difficult to argue against it being at least more coherent here) and then being so confident in that fact that they like… triple the amount of it.

I definitely am enjoying SH2R more as I continue to play it, but there’s some… I want to call them pacing issues that I have? I’m not fully sure how to explain it quite yet.

That said, I really enjoyed this version of the Angela scene with the 🔪 , and pretty much everything with Maria so far.

Silent Hill 2 remake has been quite fun so far! My main takeaway, tho, is that I’m still ‘that person,’ and therefore, tragically, I still like Silent Hill 4 more.

(I know, I know)

I haven’t started Hades 2 yet but in Hades I was absolutely head over heels in love with Artemis, Meg, Nyx, Eurydice, and Patroclus. So far I’m big into what I’ve seen of Milonoë’s personality and design, Nemesis, scumbag-Odysseus, and Medea.

Great acting, pacing was a bit iffy. They did a really smart thing dodging the biopic ‘a whole life in 2 hours’ problem by focusing in on a specific event/ string of time but don’t quite manage to take full advantage of it.

All in all a worthwhile watch. White’s Springsteen singing is really good.
Haven’t seen a music biopic in a while but Yana loves the guy from the chef show and he’s Springsteen so we’re seeing the movie where the angry sad chef plays Springsteen.

Will report back.

Having beaten Alan Wake 2, it is time to continue the tradition of twos and play Silent Hill 2 (remake)
