I walked into a room in the apartment complex otherworld and my immediate thought was ‘wow, this looks great, but I wish it was The Room’

The ‘character’ does suffer, like everyone in movies like these do, from a feeling of being sanded down a little too smooth; he’s presented as too ‘pure,’ likely less complex than the real thing, but that’s to be expected in what ultimately is a celebratory piece, no matter how good.

Didn’t mention it, but my immediate takeaway (outside of the pretty excellent singing and quite enjoyable ‘process’ sequences) was actually that Jeremy Strong was really good as Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau. Likeable and devoted, but also a little fragile and full of worry.
