We’re just not a free country.

Any American watching this play out between regime forces and journalists overseas would recognize it for what it is.

BTW when I say abolish ICE, I mean abolish it entirely and replace it with exactly nothing. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. That's it.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Absolutely love having a brain that goes to 11 with anxiety over shit that other people don't even blink at. Even better is when it starts spitting out disaster scenarios when you try to calm down and go to sleep.

lmao don’t vote for a fucking DHS budget at all!!!
Democrats cannot vote for a DHS budget that doesn’t restrain the growing lawlessness of this agency.
A witness shared this video with me showing an ICE officer shooting a driver in an SUV in south Minneapolis. DHS says the woman is dead.

masked, unidentified goons who assault and murder with impunity. a literal gestapo.
This is the ICE agent who murdered a woman by shooting her multiple times in the face.

You should be embarrassed to be a member of congress and issuing anything other than impeachment resolutions. You're in the model UN. They should give you legos and a propeller hat

/vent/ The neighbor kids are going to make me insane. Outside play time involves a *lot* of screaming. Sometimes until 10. I don't know what their home life is like; maybe they need the outlet? A couple of weeks ago a window was broken. I assumed it was an accident with the soccer ball.

So is everyone tying up @kaine.senate.gov ‘s phone to give him a piece of their mind, or is he so much of a chickenshit that he’s just got the phone off the hook this morning?

"Democratic capitulators whose seats would be filled by Democratic governors in the event of vacancy (Durbin, Fetterman, Kaine, King) should be under immense pressure to resign mid-session. Now, even. Or in Kaine’s case, after Abigail Spanberger is sworn in. If your senator fits that bill, get loud"

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

It's Sunday evening at 7:25pm. I'd LOVE to speak to someone in my senators' offices to give my opinion about this upcoming vote, but apparently no one is home? "Call back during office hours" message. Cool. Thanks. @markwarner.bsky.social @kaine.senate.gov not that you'll see this, but don't cave.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

And the University of Virginia faculty senate passes a resolution opposing the “Compact” sent to our interim president by the Department of Education. Lots of students in the room with signs opposing the compact (like “protect free speech”). 60 in favor; 2 opposed.

Listening in on the UVA faculty senate mtg about this “compact” and I wish I knew the names of some of these faculty members asking questions so I could send them cookies or something.

an obvious assassination and part of israel's war on the press, a prong of an information war to further its depopulation agenda
The final statement by Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif, written months ago in anticipation of his likely death, posted on Twitter/X by a friend. Israel assassinated him tonight along with his reporting team in an airstrike in Gaza.

This is a budget for a declaration of total war on the population. It's the building of an army of blackshirts and the creation of a massive system of concentration camps.

A crystallization of everything lurking below the surface of the American project.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
